Where to go: Arusha, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park, Tarangire National Park

Country: Tanzania

Tour Overview

This five-day luxury route introduces several major northern Tanzania parks without committing to a very long holiday. Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti and Lake Manyara bring different scenery and animal encounters. The choice of comfortable hotels and tented camps also makes time away from the vehicle part of the experience.

The 5-day private safari follows Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. Northern Tanzania private safari is the subject of this itinerary, with clear daily stops, named accommodation and prices that depend on travel dates and group size. You can use the daily outline to see where you travel, what wildlife areas you enter and how the overnight arrangements fit together.

For 5-Day Luxury Best of Tanzania, the stops follow the published programme, including an initial stay at Gran Meliá Arusha. Weather, park access and wildlife movement may change the exact driving route. Confirm dates, transfers and accommodation availability before booking.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Arusha and prepare for safari

On arrival in Arusha, meet your safari guide and settle into the starting accommodation. Your guide will use the available hours to balance travel, stops and the principal activity. If you arrive late, keep the evening simple and allow enough time for rest before setting out in the safari vehicle. Arusha is the usual starting point for the northern safari circuit, with busy streets, established hotels and views towards Mount Meru when conditions are clear.

The overnight stop is Gran Meliá Arusha. You will have time to settle at the property selected for this part of the route before the next day begins.

Main Destination: Arusha Activities: Airport or lodge transfer Meals: At own expense Accommodation options: Gran Meliá Arusha
Day 2

Explore Tarangire National Park

Continue from Arusha towards Tarangire National Park, leaving time for the day’s scheduled visits. The schedule keeps this destination as the centre of the day rather than making it a brief roadside visit. Tarangire has a broad mix of riverine woodland, old baobabs and open grass that gives the park a distinctive character. Elephants often draw attention here, though giraffe, zebra, buffalo and a wide variety of birds can also be encountered.

On this part of the journey, keep binoculars ready for distant animals and birds. Photography can change quickly as animals move between trees and exposed ground. The itinerary has an order, but wildlife encounters can change how much time is best spent at each stop.

The overnight stop is Nyota Rift Valley Lodge. The evening is an opportunity to rest before another early start and review the day’s wildlife photographs.

Main Destination: Tarangire National Park Activities: Guided game drive and road transfer Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Accommodation options: Nyota Rift Valley Lodge
Day 3

Explore Ngorongoro Crater

Continue from Tarangire National Park towards Ngorongoro Crater, leaving time for the day’s scheduled visits. The plan for this stage is to spend enough time in the main area to appreciate its character. Buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, hyena and many other animals live or move across the crater floor. Black rhino sightings remain possible but uncommon. An early descent can make better use of the permitted time on the crater floor. The vehicle follows designated tracks between different habitats.

Along this section of the route, the choice of departure time can affect both comfort and game viewing, particularly on longer driving days. The driver may pause to identify tracks or bird calls, giving you a closer understanding of what lives in the area.

You stay tonight at Nyota Serengeti Camp. Use the quieter part of the day to recharge your camera batteries and confirm the following morning’s plan.

Day 4

Explore Serengeti National Park

Continue from Ngorongoro Crater towards Serengeti National Park, leaving time for the day’s scheduled visits. Today concentrates on a different part of the route, with the journey arranged around the main destination. Patient time around kopjes and drainage lines can be useful for spotting predators, while the wider grassland gives good views of moving herds. Long views across the plains contrast with rocky outcrops and isolated trees where birds and mammals may gather.

On this part of the journey, there is no fixed list of animals that must appear on a drive, so allow room for the unexpected. Your guide can suggest suitable stopping points according to the route, daylight and conditions on the ground.

The overnight stop is Nyota Rift Valley Lodge. You will have time to settle at the property selected for this part of the route before the next day begins.

Main Destination: Serengeti National Park Activities: Guided game drive and road transfer Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Accommodation options: Nyota Rift Valley Lodge
Day 5

Final Lake Manyara National Park visit and onward transfer

This is the closing day of the route. Enjoy the final planned outing before your guide arranges the onward transfer. The scenery changes again as you reach this stop on the northern Tanzania circuit. The high escarpment creates a strong backdrop, while the lake edge changes appearance as water levels rise and fall. Some tracks can be muddy after rain. Your guide will choose accessible areas and adapt the game-drive length.

Along this section of the route, travel times can change with road conditions and animal sightings, so the guide will discuss a realistic schedule. If conditions are clear, the broad views offer a good opportunity to understand the scale of the surrounding landscape.

During this particular stage, no overnight accommodation is listed for this final day. Confirm departure arrangements before booking.
