Tour Overview
This six-day circuit connects four well-known wildlife locations and includes two nights in the Serengeti. Tarangire offers wooded river country, Ngorongoro concentrates animals on the crater floor, and Lake Manyara adds forest and lakeside scenery. The itinerary works well for a first safari where each park should offer a distinct experience.
The 6-day private safari follows Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. Northern Tanzania private safari is the subject of this itinerary, with clear daily stops, named accommodation and prices that depend on travel dates and group size. You can use the daily outline to see where you travel, what wildlife areas you enter and how the overnight arrangements fit together.
For 6-Day Highlights of Tanzania Mid-Range Safari, the stops follow the published programme, including an initial stay at Arusha Planet Lodge. Weather, park access and wildlife movement may change the exact driving route. Confirm dates, transfers and accommodation availability before booking.

Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Arusha and prepare for safari
On this part of the journey, on arrival in Arusha, meet your safari guide and settle into the starting accommodation. Your guide will use the available hours to balance travel, stops and the principal activity. The route out of town passes settled farmland before the land opens towards the northern wildlife reserves. If you arrive late, keep the evening simple and allow enough time for rest before setting out in the safari vehicle.
You stay tonight at Arusha Planet Lodge. You will have time to settle at the property selected for this part of the route before the next day begins.
Day 2Explore Tarangire National Park
On this part of the journey, continue from Arusha towards Tarangire National Park, leaving time for the day’s scheduled visits. The schedule keeps this destination as the centre of the day rather than making it a brief roadside visit. Keep binoculars ready for distant animals and birds. Photography can change quickly as animals move between trees and exposed ground. Tarangire has a broad mix of riverine woodland, old baobabs and open grass that gives the park a distinctive character.
You stay tonight at Eileen's Trees Inn. The evening is an opportunity to rest before another early start and review the day’s wildlife photographs.
Day 3Explore Serengeti National Park
Continue from Tarangire National Park towards Serengeti National Park, leaving time for the day’s scheduled visits. The plan for this stage is to spend enough time in the main area to appreciate its character. The Serengeti is a large ecosystem of plains, seasonal rivers, kopjes and wooded sections, so the character of each drive changes with the chosen area. Lion prides, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes and many grazing mammals may be seen, but a particular sighting always depends on wildlife movements.
You stay tonight at Embalakai Serengeti Camp. Use the quieter part of the day to recharge your camera batteries and confirm the following morning’s plan.
Day 4Continue exploring Serengeti National Park
Continue from Serengeti National Park towards Serengeti National Park, leaving time for the day’s scheduled visits. Today concentrates on a different part of the route, with the journey arranged around the main destination. Lion prides, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes and many grazing mammals may be seen, but a particular sighting always depends on wildlife movements. Patient time around kopjes and drainage lines can be useful for spotting predators, while the wider grassland gives good views of moving herds.
You stay tonight at Embalakai Serengeti Camp. You will have time to settle at the property selected for this part of the route before the next day begins.
Day 5Explore Ngorongoro Crater
On this part of the journey, continue from Serengeti National Park towards Ngorongoro Crater, leaving time for the day’s scheduled visits. The scenery changes again as you reach this stop on the northern Tanzania circuit. An early descent can make better use of the permitted time on the crater floor. The vehicle follows designated tracks between different habitats. The descent reveals a broad basin with changing colours and an impressive rim above it. Weather can be cool or misty at the higher viewpoint.
This evening’s accommodation is Eileen's Trees Inn. The evening is an opportunity to rest before another early start and review the day’s wildlife photographs.
Day 6Final Lake Manyara National Park visit and onward transfer
On this part of the journey, this is the closing day of the route. Enjoy the final planned outing before your guide arranges the onward transfer. This day adds a distinct landscape to the trip and gives you another setting for guided exploration. The high escarpment creates a strong backdrop, while the lake edge changes appearance as water levels rise and fall. Some tracks can be muddy after rain. Your guide will choose accessible areas and adapt the game-drive length.
On this part of the journey, spend time looking beyond the nearest animal; groups of grazers often reveal activity across a much wider area. The distance between stops is part of this day’s plan, so there is no need to rush every wildlife encounter.
Your safari concludes today, so an additional hotel stay would need separate arrangements.
