The route also includes central Serengeti, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. With eight days available, there is room to search different habitats and adjust the game-drive focus.

The 8-day private safari follows Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. Western Serengeti migration safari is the subject of this itinerary, with clear daily stops, named accommodation and prices that depend on travel dates and group size. You can use the daily outline to see where you travel, what wildlife areas you enter and how the overnight arrangements fit together.

For 8-Day Western Wildebeest Migration(May to Jul) Mid-Range, the stops follow the published programme, including an initial stay at Arusha Planet Lodge. Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Arusha and prepare for safari

Arrive in Arusha and meet your safari guide. Take time to confirm the next morning’s departure, luggage needs and any dietary requests. A relaxed start makes the early park transfers easier.

Arusha is the usual starting point for the northern safari circuit, with busy streets, established hotels and views towards Mount Meru when conditions are clear. Watch how the light changes across the land during the drive; the same view can look quite different in early and late afternoon.

Overnight at Arusha Planet Lodge.

If you arrive late, keep the evening simple and allow enough time for rest before setting out in the safari vehicle. Short breaks are useful on longer sections and give everyone a chance to stretch, drink water and take photographs.

Main Destination: Arusha Activities: Airport or lodge transfer Meals: At own expense Accommodation options: Arusha Planet Lodge
Day 2

Explore Tarangire National Park

Continue towards Tarangire National Park. Tall baobab trunks rise above the surrounding bush, and the Tarangire River is an important source of water for wildlife in drier periods.

Game viewing is most rewarding when the driver takes time to check dry river beds, pools and shaded areas rather than travelling quickly between sightings. Your guide can suggest suitable stopping points according to the route, daylight and conditions on the ground.

Overnight at Eileen's Trees Inn.

Keep binoculars ready for distant animals and birds. Photography can change quickly as animals move between trees and exposed ground. The itinerary has an order, but wildlife encounters can change how much time is best spent at each stop.

Main Destination: Tarangire National Park Activities: Guided game drive and road transfer Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Accommodation options: Eileen’s Trees Inn
Day 3

Explore Serengeti National Park

Continue towards Serengeti National Park. Your guide can adjust the order of drives according to local conditions, track reports and the distance between wildlife areas.

Travel times can change with road conditions and animal sightings, so the guide will discuss a realistic schedule. If conditions are clear, the broad views offer a good opportunity to understand the scale of the surrounding landscape.

Overnight at Embalakai Serengeti Camp.

Main Destination: Serengeti National Park Activities: Guided game drive and road transfer Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Accommodation options: Embalakai Serengeti Camp
Day 4

Continue exploring Serengeti National Park

Continue towards Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is a large ecosystem of plains, seasonal rivers, kopjes and wooded sections, so the character of each drive changes with the chosen area.

The day works best when you keep expectations flexible and allow the guide to follow current sightings. The itinerary has an order, but wildlife encounters can change how much time is best spent at each stop.

Overnight at Mbalageti Serengeti.

Main Destination: Serengeti National Park Activities: Guided game drive and road transfer Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Accommodation options: Mbalageti Serengeti
Day 5

Continue exploring Serengeti National Park

Continue towards Serengeti National Park. Lion prides, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes and many grazing mammals may be seen, but a particular sighting always depends on wildlife movements.

The choice of departure time can affect both comfort and game viewing, particularly on longer driving days. The driver may pause to identify tracks or bird calls, giving you a closer understanding of what lives in the area.

On this part of the journey, overnight at Mbalageti Serengeti.

Main Destination: Serengeti National Park Activities: Guided game drive and road transfer Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Accommodation options: Mbalageti Serengeti
Day 6

Continue exploring Serengeti National Park

Continue towards Serengeti National Park. Patient time around kopjes and drainage lines can be useful for spotting predators, while the wider grassland gives good views of moving herds.

Morning and afternoon conditions may feel very different; pack layers that are useful during both. Roadside scenery is worth watching as the vegetation and altitude change along this part of the circuit.

On this part of the journey, overnight at Embalakai Serengeti Camp.

Main Destination: Serengeti National Park Activities: Guided game drive and road transfer Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Accommodation options: Embalakai Serengeti Camp
Day 7

Explore Ngorongoro Crater

Continue towards Ngorongoro Crater. The descent reveals a broad basin with changing colours and an impressive rim above it. Weather can be cool or misty at the higher viewpoint.

Travel times can change with road conditions and animal sightings, so the guide will discuss a realistic schedule. Photography is easier if you take a moment to consider the background before concentrating on a close-up sighting.

On this part of the journey, overnight at Eileen's Trees Inn.

Main Destination: Ngorongoro Crater Activities: Guided game drive and road transfer Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Accommodation options: Eileen’s Trees Inn
Day 8

Final Lake Manyara National Park visit and onward transfer

Complete the final outing before your onward transfer. Some tracks can be muddy after rain. Your guide will choose accessible areas and adapt the game-drive length.

Spend time looking beyond the nearest animal; groups of grazers often reveal activity across a much wider area. Baboons, blue monkeys, elephants and waterbirds are among the animals visitors may encounter in its varied habitats.

No overnight stay is scheduled.
