Detailed Itinerary

Your safari adventure begins with an 8:00 AM pickup from your Arusha hotel. With everyone on board, you'll embark on the journey toward Serengeti National Park. The 305-kilometer drive takes approximately 7 to 7.5 hours.

The name "Serengeti" translates to "endless plains" in the local African language, and watching the grasslands stretch as far as the eye can see, eventually merging with the sky at the horizon, is an absolutely breathtaking experience. Spanning 14,763 square kilometers, the park challenges our conventional understanding of distance and space.

The Serengeti is home to the glorious Big Five—elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard—along with one of Africa's most graceful antelopes, the impala. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa.

The central portion of the Serengeti—known as the Seronera area—is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. The Seronera River provides a vital water source that attracts wildlife representative of most of the Serengeti's species. In this region, be particularly attentive for the numerous lion prides that flourish here. You'll also encounter the Serengeti's famous Kopjes—massive granite boulders rising from the sea of grass that provide shelter to a wide variety of flora and fauna.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed during the day's exploration. Your eventful day concludes with dinner and a peaceful night's rest at your accommodation.

After breakfast, you'll enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, taking in the wildlife and landscapes one final time before departing for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The 151-kilometer drive takes approximately 3 to 3.5 hours, with a picnic lunch enjoyed along the way.

The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest collapsed volcanic caldera in the world—a fourteen-kilometer expanse of isolated natural beauty. Surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes, the crater floor is dotted with watering holes that support approximately 30,000 animals. Your eventful day concludes with a hearty dinner and restful night at your accommodation.

On the final day of your safari, an early start awaits. After a quick breakfast, you'll descend into the crater floor at approximately 6:30 AM. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera, with a floor covering approximately 260 square kilometers at a depth exceeding 2,000 feet.

The five-hour game drive on the crater floor promises abundant wildlife activity. Keep your camera ready—African elephants, buffalo, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions are found in plentiful numbers. After enjoying a picnic lunch at the scenic Hippo Pool, you'll ascend steeply toward the crater rim's exit point.

This marks the final leg of your safari, with a 154-kilometer drive—approximately 4 to 4.5 hours—remaining to Arusha. You'll be dropped off at your preferred location in Arusha by approximately 6:00 PM. With incredible experiences and cherished memories, it's time to bid farewell to your safari team.

In August, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area experiences mild and dry conditions. Daytime temperatures range from approximately 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), while nighttime temperatures can drop to around 10°C to 14°C (50°F to 57°F). Rainfall is generally low, with clear skies and sunny days making it suitable for wildlife viewing. Humidity levels are lower, contributing to comfortable conditions. However, it can be cooler at higher elevations, so layering is advisable—especially in the evenings and early mornings.

August in Karatu brings mild and dry weather. Temperatures range from approximately 13°C (55°F) at night to around 24°C (75°F) during the day. Rainfall is minimal, with very little precipitation expected. Humidity levels are lower, making for comfortable outdoor activities and wildlife viewing in the nearby areas. Expect sunny days and cool evenings.

In August, the Central Serengeti experiences dry and cooler weather. Daytime temperatures typically range from 20°C to 27°C (68°F to 81°F), while nighttime temperatures can drop to approximately 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). This month falls within the dry season, so rainfall is minimal—an excellent time for wildlife viewing as animals gather near water sources. Skies are generally clear to partly cloudy, providing good visibility for photography and game drives.

This tour begins and ends in Arusha. Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is the nearest international airport, while Arusha Airport serves domestic flights.

We do not book international flights. We can arrange local flights based on availability. Indicative additional costs are provided below.

This tour operates with road transfers between all locations. Central Serengeti is the farthest destination, approximately 7 hours from Arusha each way. To reduce driving time, you may choose to fly directly into or out of the Serengeti.

Rates include airfare plus the cost of sending the safari vehicle and guide one day in advance to Serengeti, plus additional park fees.
