ELEPHANT EXPEDITION
Location
Amboseli is located in southern Kenya near the Tanzanian border. Amboseli National Park is recognized as Kenya’s designated biosphere reserve. The park’s iconic feature is the grand Mt. Kilimanjaro which provides a spectacular backdrop to the savannah plains and swamps that feature the park.
Wildlife
Amboseli National Park harbors a diverse range of wildlife including large herds of elephants that are seen against the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Amboseli is famous for its elephant population which is the best studied in the world. Other animals frequently seen include; lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, wildebeests, hippos, gazelles, Dik-dik, Leopards, and Nocturnal porcupines.
Birds
The park is home to more than 350 bird species. The birds can be both migratory and resident flamingoes are able to be spotted in the park’s lakes during the wet season, alongside other birds such as cormorants, storks, ostriches, herons, and pelicans.
